Update on Cheyenne:

May 2, 2008-  Cheyenne's second surgery on May 1st went very well and best of all -- NO CANCER.  The tumor was a cyst and the lymph nodes were once again "reactive", but no sign of cancer.  What a blessing!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Just sat down and cried from relief and sheer joy at the news.
She will be followed every 3 months for a year most likely.

Thanks to the generosity of those who donated for her surgery and the help of the Rescue arm of ASSA and Dorothy Christiansen, all of the bills are paid for both surgeries and all medications, etc.
God bless everyone who helped this lovely little girl have a second chance at a good life.

Cheyenne's grateful mom,

April 13, 2008-- Cheyenne's surgery went very well and Dr. Cathy Coulter did a really superb job.  She does really nice needle work!!!!  She took the three lower breasts on the left side and the part of the lymph drainage system tied to them.  She also spayed her at the same time.  The pathology report confirmed that the large tumor mass was an adenocarcinoma; however, the good news is that there is no x-ray detectable spread to the lungs at this point.  Three of the lymph nodes removed were "reactive" but not positive for cancer.  They could have been reactive because they were doing their job and trying to fight anything negative in the drainage, etc.

There is another tumor on the right side in the last mammary and she will need that removed as well as the breast just above it and the corresponding lymph nodes as soon as she has healed enough.  She gets her stitches out on Friday, April 18th and we will set a date then for the next surgery.

Cheyenne is healing beautifully and has been a perfect patient.  She is happy, wants to run some even and has to be held back for a while longer on that until she heals from the second surgery.  She wears her Elizabethan collar without complaint as well as toddler size undershirts to keep the grass and stuff from brushing her belly.  She's very cute in her pink shirt -- the color for breast cancer awareness.

Cheyenne came home with me to Signal Mountain after she had her post-surgery check on Saturday, April 5th with Dr. Cathy.  On the following Tuesday she went to see Dr. Laura Williams here on the mountain who will do the upcoming surgery.  Dr. Laura is glad that I am feeding Cheyenne all natural food (kibble mixed with canned) supplemented with cottage cheese with flaxseed oil, multi-vitamin, prozyme, and sometimes either cooked fresh salmon, or free range chicken or eggs.

Cheyenne and her brother and sister, Nicholas and Chloe, are getting along wonderfully together.  There was a snarl or two (from Cheyenne!) the first day they were all together and then it was okay.  No problems with the cats either.  I, of course, have been in love with her from the time I saw the first picture.  She is so very precious and, even though she got a rough start, she is one of the happiest little things I have ever seen.  That tail wags all the time and she loves everyone.  Amazing!  The vets here on the mountain have decided that she is most likely 8 years old.  So, with God's help, good medical care, and lots of prayers we should have several good years together.  I'm counting on it as is her Godmother "Aunt Ann".

Cheyenne's lucky Mother,
